How to Create Product Demo and Explainer Videos with AI

Show the real product doing the real task. AI belongs around that evidence, not in place of it.

Workflow

1. Define audience, problem, one successful path, prerequisites, and release version.
2. Write narration against the actual sequence and verify every promise with product or legal owners.
3. Capture a clean environment with realistic sample data. Hide personal information and notifications.
4. Edit the screen recording in VEED. Use Synthesia or HeyGen for approved presenter bridges if useful.
5. Generate non-factual mood or transition shots in Runway, never fake interface behavior.
6. Add captions, cursor emphasis, zooms, and a release date. Have someone unfamiliar with the flow follow the video.

Maintenance

Store the source capture separately from presenter and narration layers. When the interface changes, replace the affected step instead of regenerating everything. Archive videos that demonstrate removed functionality.

Measure viewer completion and task success, not whether the avatar looks impressive.
