How to Edit Talking-Head Videos with AI

AI is good at the first mechanical pass: transcript, silences, filler words, captions, reframing, and basic cleanup. The human pass protects performance.

Workflow

1. Keep the original recording and synchronize clean audio before text-based cuts.
2. Use Captions or VEED to transcribe, then correct names and technical terms.
3. Remove mistakes and dead time, but leave breaths and pauses that carry meaning.
4. Apply gaze correction and audio enhancement selectively. Compare faces and consonants against the original.
5. Add captions with safe margins, restrained emphasis, and readable line lengths.
6. Use OpusClip only if a long recording also needs clip candidates; use Canva for approved supporting graphics.

Review twice

Watch for jump cuts, false continuity, warped eye movement, changing skin texture, clipped words, and captions that cover key visuals. Then listen without video for pacing and meaning.

Do not make a speaker appear to say words they did not approve. Delivery enhancement crosses into synthetic performance quickly.
