How to Turn Rough Notes into an Executive Brief with AI

Executives need the decision, evidence, risk, owner, and ask. They do not need the model to turn uncertainty into smooth prose.

Workflow

1. Remove irrelevant personal information and label each note as fact, opinion, decision, action, risk, or open question.
2. Attach a source or owner to every important fact. Preserve disagreement with speaker labels where it matters.
3. Give Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Gemini a fixed structure: decision needed, recommendation, evidence, alternatives, risks, open questions, actions.
4. Instruct it not to resolve contradictions or invent dates and owners. Missing data should appear as a visible gap.
5. Compare the draft against the notes, verify numbers and attribution, then edit for one-screen readability.

A useful brief

Lead with the call and the reason. Put background after the decision. Use a small table for options only if the dimensions are truly comparable. End with explicit owner, deadline, and next decision point.

For high-stakes decisions, retain the notes and revision history. Compression should make reasoning easier to inspect, not erase it.
