What Qwen does well
Qwen Studio covers more than text chat. It can search the web, work through longer research tasks, interpret images, create and edit visuals, generate video, help with code, and produce web artifacts. Native apps for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows make it one of the more broadly available free assistants.
It is also useful to separate the layers. Qwen Studio is the consumer product. Qwen models are the underlying model family, Qwen Code is a terminal coding agent, and Alibaba Cloud Model Studio sells programmatic model access. API prices are not consumer subscription prices.
Where it falls short
The number of modes does not mean every workflow is equally refined. Product Hunt feedback asks for better history management, editable intermediate steps, and stronger edge-case handling without repeated prompting.
Qwen's privacy policy says de-identified user content may be used to improve the accuracy and quality of its services, including AI models. It also says personal data is stored or processed in Singapore and mainland China. Teams with residency or training restrictions should review those terms before adopting the consumer product.
